Ours easily adds 6". Most of that comes not from the skylight per se, but from the penetration of the garnish through the ceiling and roof.
You can get skylights with built-in lights.

If you run out of options, as a last resort you might want to consider going with the FL and then hiring a carpenter to modify the cabinet. I had exactly the same issue with the Legend's bed length....

You can make up those couple of inches in the shower with a skylight. I am 6'3" and our GWV legend's bath gives me more than enough head room using this technique.
