thank you so very much-- that fixed it. the seat was forward but must not have been locked in place. The owner's manuals did not mention this!

alarm sounds when key inserted and turned, even before engine starts, and continues when engine running. Alarm is high pitch and steady; other alarms okay, engine fluids okay, unable to locate...
