ENERGY 8012 Super-silent GAS generator
Generator runs on LPG liquid gas and can deliver up to 70 Amps at approximately 13.5 Volts.
It can be used as a power supply for a 12Vdc air conditioner, or a battery charger with an automatic power-on system (when the battery is flat) and power-off system (when the battery is fully recharged).
Special care was taking during the design to ensure that great care has been taken to ensure a very low noise level, by incorporating special sound insulation systems.
It is made in Italy. I don't know what it costs.

4-stroke engine: YAMAHA MZ175
Max. power output: 70A /13.5Vdc
Starting: Electric
Noise level: 56 dBA (7m)
Max Consumption: 0,8 Kg/h
Dimensions y x z: 29,5x55,5x38,5 cm
Weight: 52kg

There are other cool products on their website like this:

Those are very quiet; 51 to 52 dBA
They can autostart when your batteries are at 11.9 volts (60% discharged) and supply 20 to 25 amps to your batteries.

12 volt rooftop air conditioners seem to be readily available in Europe and Asia.

Doesn't your rear window A/C run on 12V as well as 115-120 AC off of your inverter?
Do they run off of a standard 20 gallon propane BBQ-type bottle?

My air conditioner is only 110 volt AC so it runs off grid power or my inverter.
A 12 volt DC air conditioner would cut out the inefficiency of the inverter.

The DC propane generators in the links above are very quiet. The smaller one is more quiet than a Honda EU2000.
The smaller one would output an impressive 480 amps in a day if needed.
Fuel consumption for the smaller one is just over 1/2 lb propane an hour.

They'd be permanently mounted, plumbed into the RV propane system.
Looks like it might be around $3,600 though.
