Does anyone know if a battery minder can be permently attached to a battery and just plug it in when you want or will the alternater charging while running mess it up? also for the house battery will the house charger mess it up or visa versa when that is plugged in?

Nothing about that in the manual.

I did read in the manual that BatteryMINDers will use the power from your battery and drain the battery if you do not plug it into an electrical outlet.

BatteryMINDer manufacturer technical support email address is: techsupport@vdcelectronics.com

It would be interesting to find out what they say about it.

If it is anything like my video camera - it will drain the battery. I charge the battery on the camera with the charger plugged into a multi outlet strip which if I turn it off without unplugging the camera - it will be dead as a doornail the next morning. I think the secondary winding on the transformer is the culprit and that would be the same with a battery charger except that a car battery has more energy stored than a camcorder.

From Wayne at VCD Electronics Tech Support:

The BatteryMINDer can be on with any other charging system without fear of damage to the charger or any other charging system.
