It seems to me I remember a little while ago I saw a picture of a Travato B they were going to make here, and I think the article even said they had a factory location and everything set. Wish I could remember where I saw that. I am pretty sure it was a side sleeper.

This might be a clue indicating a possible increased North American presence for Hymer or it might be nothing

The Florida RV Trade Association Nov 2014 newsletter http://www.frvta.org/newsletter/2014/Nov2014.pdf shows ERWIN HYMER GROUP as a new out of state member.

It would be an interesting choice if they are partnering with Spartan. I don't think Spartan makes anything beyond high end, big, chassis now, no finished RVs. They also would have to stay clear of the turf of the high end customers Spartan now has, I would think.

It might be an odd fit for a B, but they also may be just renting space and machinery. If they decided to do any of their class A units here, they would have a much better fit with Spartan's resources.

There was a rumor up in Iowa a couple years ago Hymer was going to partner with Winnebago for "something". If true, I doubt it, at least anytime soon. I don't know where they'd build them as Winnie's plants are all running full out. Their Sprinter class C lines are all weeks behind on their orders....

November 2014 Class B Shipment stats have been published on RVIA's site http://www.rvia.org

2014 shipments are up 37.9% through 11 months this year.

The Champagne must be being chilled. December's numbers will just be a formality as we already know 2014 is a great year for Class B RV Manufacturers (as a group).

The stats for 2015 are starting to come in.

January 2015 Class B Shipment stats have been published on RVIA's site http://www.rvia.org

Shipments are up 1.2% compared to last January. Yes, I know - only 3 more vans but positive numbers are a good thing.

Class C's are off to a flying start

I would expect that we will see a significant jump when the Zion gets rolling into full production, and they are loading up the dealer inventory.

I think RT is at 10 models now. Will they increase production capacity or make room for the Zion in current production? Will the Zion affect RT Chevy based units? Will it affect the SS-Agile?

Can the B market significantly grow again this year? Sales were up 15.9% for 2013 and 22.8% for 2014.

Hymer made a big splash but no info from them since the debut. Early indications were that they were anticipating availability this summer though so not too surprising that we haven't heard any more from them.

There's the new Travato 59K also.

Then there's the Ford Transit ............. Are some buyers just waiting for a few Ford Transit based Class B RV's from production builders?

Should be another exciting year in the Class B world

It does look like Roadtrek is doing something with the Chevies, as the prices seem to have jumped up way more than you would expect for an old model, and very quickly. Lake Regions is showing a 2015 170 at just under $100K and a 190 at over $108K. I don't think the Sprinters saw as much increase. They probably are making room in the pricing for the near $100K Zion, and don't really care if they sell the more labor intensive Chevies, or not. Based on the tour of the factory that we took in 2009, once they kill off the Chevy, they will gain a lot of production area, as the cut and hack area used to cut up the Chevy bodies used up a bunch of floorspace.

Just for comparison, our 2007 190, that is nearly identical to the latest versions with the newer roof and kitchen design and was fully optioned, had a list of $77K.

In some ways I feel sorry for those who believe they have B+s with those Class Cs. We were in Joshua Tree NP this week and the recommended maximum length is 25 feet for most all campsites. As it turned out most CG roads were really one way with pullover sites. Slide outs hung perously into the driving lanes. That's if they can find a site they could fit in. It was comical to watch the bigger rigs. One Class A got hung up in a turn and it took him a half hour to extricate. He was pulling a trailered car. Dumb I tell you.

It looks like my predictions are coming true.
Sales have essentially plateaued due to low fuel prices, yet the bigger rigs are having healthy gains.
Expect this trend to continue as long as fuel remains relatively cheap.

Not smart in my view, as the situation will not last. Also considering Davydd's point, I'd agree that people don't think thru the limits of the bigger rig. All they care about is floor plan apparently, or having enough space inside for a rainy day. I don't care about rainy days. That's why you have a canopy.

February 2015 Class B Sales stats have been posted on RV Business: http://www.rvbusiness.com/2015/04/ssi-c ... -february/

Sales were up 8.2%

Quote:
Year-over-year Class B motorhome retail registrations gained 8.2% in February and 13.9% for the first two months, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI).
Here's the Class B market share breakdown:

February 2015
Roadtrek Motorhomes Inc. 29.5% market share.
Winnebago Industries Inc. 27.9% market share.
Thor Industries Inc. 26.6% market share.

Winnebago moved back into second place. Looks like Roadtrek's share dipped but sometimes these numbers are revised later. 1.6% separates 1st & 2nd place if the Feb data is not adjusted. I wonder who is in 4th place?
