Default Big Bend the best park in TX?

Thoughts on the best parks in Texas. Big Bend has always been high on my list?

Big Bend is definitely the best park in Texas--one of the best in the country. It is an often-overlooked gem. That said, Palo Duro Canyon State Park is pretty good, too.

Enjoyed it, too. Sat up one night and just watched the stars roll past the windshield. And the airliners. Almost zero light pollution in that area. Great visibility, once your eyes adjust to the blackness.
A javelina walked past our campsite right in front of the van, just after dark. Probably looking for improperly stored food, and who knows what else. Quite cool, actually. Heard about them being pretty bold, but was surprised at how casual it was when it passed by.

I just looked up Palo Duro Canyon and it made my to-do list for sure.

Sounds like Big Bend is a no brainer, I've seen some pictures of the sky at night and they looked photoshopped because it's so clear. I'd love to see that by a camp fire with a little Texas beer. Not sure how I feel about the javelina just rolling up in the camp though, I've also heard the are pretty aggressive and that Texas actually has a pretty big problem with their population.

Thanks for the feedback! After I go I'll post any cool pics I can snap off!
