Thor Sequence 20K water issue

When we hooked to city water, it fills the holding tank and overflows

So we can only use the pump and the tank does anyone know what we might can do on the road to fix this this is a brand new RV and I don’t really trust many of the sales centers to fix problems. I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem

If the freshwater tank, then you have a problem with your water pump backflow valve. This valve stops city water from flowing into your fresh storage tank. Either a piece of plastic has lodged the valve open, or the valve has failed. Go to a rv repair place if you cannot do the repair yourself. Try to lookup the location of your 12v water pump to see if you can get to it. If the RV is new, then your warranty should cover this problem.

Using either the water fill or the city water connection produce the same result? Have you confirmed that?

In my past RVs, there was always a switch that needed to turned to stop the city fill from filling the fresh. Since mine were all in different places, your manual should tell you where it is. If there is no manual, try a youtube sales walkthrough... they might cover it.

I second that, in my DIY build I have a solenoid water valve to prevent auto fill. Look for a switch.

This is the correct answer. There is no switch or solenoid on Thor B vans. There are two check valves, one in the water pump and one at the city fill input connection.

Until you get it fixed, just use the tank and water pump. We almost never use city fill on our 2020 20AT.

I worked on a friend RV with similar problem and the culprit was the water pump itself (culprit is the diaphragm..). Installed a new pump and problem solved...! bought a "generic" pump on Amazon and took us less than 15 min to replaced. It has been over one year and all still working fine. As your RV is new, it may be still on warranty (Most pump are one year warranty...!). Hope this helps, cheers,

I had the same issue. The former owner didn’t winterize the rig, causing a hairline crack in the water pump housing resulting in city water back flowing into the fresh water tank. I purchased a new water pump housing from amazon ($21.50 in 201, exchanged the pump motor onto the new pump housing and all was good.

JMO, but I'll never understand why anyone would hook up to city water in a Class B. Fill the fresh water tank, keeps water fresh, easy to come and go with your vehicle, water pressure regulators can fail and ruin an RV. If there's a leak, you'll hear the pump running. Flip a switch if you go for a walk or whatever. The list goes on.

I agree.

However, note that the same configuration that is used for city water is also necessary to properly blow out the system during winterization.

So, unless you are one of those who believe in putting that pink stuff in their system, having a functional city-water system is still important.

Do have questions for you, but before that let's look at each part of your question.

1. You filled the Water holding tank, (Did you use a Water Pressure while filling the water tank pressure should not be higher than 40-PSI.) NEXT, The VAN knob was turned to City while filling (YES?) At this point, the water should have stopped following, once water holding tank was full and the outlets turned off. Unless you have a broken water line under the VAN? if so you would most likely see mass amount of water coming from under the van running everywhere. Making it look hard to see where the water was coming out from. (YES or NO) That sounds like too much pressure and a possible broken pipe under the van. Then also if you had left water in the holding tank during the winter without winterizing, that could have busted a water pipe. As temps below 32 can freeze water which will expand busting a pipe or pipes.

2. Normally, you open all the water outlets, sink, shower, turn knob to City and have a water pressure regulator at 40-PSI. Once the water tank is full you turn off all outlets. The water should stop, until you turn it on, again inside.

3. Once you unhook from the city and turn the knob HOUSE, you turn on the water pump. and water runs when needed.

4. In some cases and I have one in my Galleria, the water systems needed to be primed, and under the Kitchen cabinet are five knobs and knowing which turners which way. If so you should be able to go to the Social Group in this forum called "Galleria" and find a water flow diagram that may be of help to you. I'm hoping your water tank systems needed to just be primed and the pump turned On while still filling the holding tank, Let us know how wrong we are and I hope you don't have a broken pipe. If the OP is still here - if you have a water miser valve in your shower then it may be turned to the wrong position. This will cause city water to flow into the fresh tank.
