Default 1997 170 Popular passenger seat foot placement

We just bought this 1997 170 Popular, and when I sit in the passenger side, there is one skinny place for my right foot, but the engine is in the middle between the driver and passenger, and no room for my left foot unless I put it on top of the engine! I have a bad back, and can't sit in this position. The seat seems as far back as it will go. anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.

Check again to see if the seat can go back more.
Is it a Dodge van?

Does the seat swivel lock in set positions?
One RV or van we had (Dodge or Ford - can't remember now) had a swivel seat that could be locked in any position. Just angling the seat 1 degree or so to the right made a more comfortable seating position for the passenger.

Also, different shoes might help. Some runners and boots etc. have very large soles and will take up a lot of the available space.

Thank you for replying. It is a Dodge. The seat can't go back anymore, and the seat doesn't seem to have any lock positions unless facing forward. When I say there is no room, I mean it. My knees would be up to my chest if I kept both feet in front of the seat. Cannot believe how someone could have designed this. We bought if for comfort, but I will have to ride in the rear seat. Thank you for replying.

If you've got headroom, you could try a cushion on the seat.

If the engine cover slopes down to the floor, you may be able to build a foot rest, above the floor, that may be wide enough to place both feet comfortably. This may work well with the addition of the seat cushion.
