Extending the pick up tube would most likely involve dropping the fuel tank. Then you'd have to be careful not to run it till the tank is empty or you'd be stuck.
Or you could carry extra fuel.

You can almost certainly find another tank, too. The RV mfgs don't make the tanks they use in their conversions....
