Default Roadtrek roof question

My fantastic fan has stopped working and I am troubleshooting for cause.
The next step is to check the function of the external on/off switch. In order to do so, I will need to place my upper body weight on/across the roof of my Chevy 190 roof. IYO, could this place too much stress on the roof and/or its seal with the chassis?

We also have a Chevy 190, and I would call the roof not capable of walking on as it will flex and probably weaken the fiberglass. It does not seem to have a problem with leaning across it with your feet on a ladder of scaffold (be sure the ladder can't slide out by having someone hold it tight). At that point you should be able to sort of lie on the edge of the roof and reach across to do what is need for the fan.

I think the whole guts of the fan should be removable from inside the van, though, and it thing that will allow access to the switch of concern.

Check out the online installation manual to see how it all goes together and reverse the process.

Will do; thanks again Booster.

Problem solved. I silicone spray cleaned the external on-off piston and its cylinder. The fan returned to normal operation.

Always good to hear of somebody finding and easy fix for their problem. Glad you got back to let everyone know.

Did you have to take anything off to get at it?

Nope, only had to fully open the vent cover. The shape of our 190 Ranger roof made it easy to lean over/in from the step ladder, place my support left hand lightly on the roof, and spray the exposed piston/cylinder.
We found this silicone spray solution idea online. I certainly was skeptical when the author indicated a 95% probability of success, but there you go, it worked.
