Back Home From Our Trip
I just got back from taking my kids to Winnipeg Manitoba to visit family. Going there, we stayed at KOA and Provincial Parks throughout the trip from Southern Ontario to Manitoba. I thought the KOA's in Ontario were a little pricey until I stayed at a Provincial Park. Over $40 a night in a Provincial Park for just electricity but the sites are nice, big and well shaded. The one KOA we stayed at had no trees and we were out in the open. The KOA's ranged from $44 to $48 per night.
I was quite shocked when we went over the border and stayed at West Hawk Lake Campground in the White Shell Provincial Park. Since it was a Provincial Campground, we paid the going price. For one night with water and electricity, it cost $16.80, tax included. This was well worth it. We had a nice treed site, beach close by and there were all kinds of deer in the campground. My kids and I got told off by the park Rangers because we were not to feed the deer. There were no signs so how was I suppose to know? The deer really liked Shredded Wheat!
If anyone is travelling through Manitoba, I would suggest the Provincial Parks but only during the week. Apparently they are always booked full on the weekends.
We did stay at the Agawa Bay campsite in Lake Superior Provincial Park, a couple hours North of Sault St. Marie. This is a narrow campground with Hwy 17 on one side and a long beech on Lake Superior on the other side. The kids loved the beach and played until after the sun went down.
