Default New Onan Muffler

We bought this muffler from Amazon and had it welded on. Makes a HUGE difference in the volume and pitch of the generator. Still louder than the Transit engine, but not by much.

Several people who reviewed this on Amazon said it didn't help at all so we don't know if it just works on our QG 2800 or if welding instead of clamping it together made a difference.

If this is the Onan Resonator, I had one on my '05 RT190P - I didn't feel it reduced it enough to warrant another on my '15 RT. Ron

Onan calls it the resonator, not a muffler.

It is meant to soften the irritating pitch and the sharp punches of the firing cycle.

They are non-committal in reducing the volume.

... can reduce sound levels in
some installations up to one dB(A).
It is an air-cooled engine; there's not much you can do -- The noise emanates to all directions.

ps. I wonder if anyone has tried to put Fatmat on the Onan.
