Default Tips for the silverware drawer?

I have tracked down and fixed a LOT of rattles in our van. But I wanted to see if there were any clever ideas or RV products to quiet the silverware drawer. I tried rubber bands, elastic strips, velcro strips, extra towels, etc. Any other ideas come to mind?

Plastic "Silver"ware.

But seriously, we just keep ours in a box inside the drawer, and thanks to Sumo springs or something they don't make much noise. Rubber bands seem like a feasible solution.

For silverware, this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZYUXXDM/

with cutouts to precisely fit utensils, knives and silverware. The forks and spoons are fit on edge in shaped cutouts, tight enough to not rattle. Each knife gets its own slot.

As an aside, it's easy to tell if something is missing.

For dishes, I lined the drawers with felt, then bent some aluminum sheet & covered it with padding and Velcro'd the bent aluminum sheet to the felt drawer bottom in a pattern that keeps dishes from sliding. The tabs can be moved around as needed.

Rather than gluing the felt to the drawer, I glued it to a piece of coroplast the size of the drawer bottom.

I use foam shelf liner between the plates so they don't rattle against each other.

Leave a lot of it home. A class B does not need a table setting for 8 or 10. It needs place settings for four max and if you are not too social just two.

We just have divider tray like we do at home to keep the silverware separated with like pieces. I never thought about rattling or noises nor was aware. But now reading this thread I might be aware just like my wife pointed out my new shoes made a faint clicking noise and now I am keenly aware and it now annoys me.

Thanks for all the ideas! hbn, you are right; we don't need service for 4. We wash it anyway after each meal--might cut back to 2. Michael; the custom foam is a great idea. Thanks for the link too.

Now, how do you keep your silver from tarnishing in the van??? [just kidding]

Here’s a few ideas I collected over the years and stashed in my Imgur (below).

I used to use the blue woven basket - no rattling with that! But I needed the under-counter space for other things, so now I use the acrylic boxes attached to the wall next to the window. I mix titanium in with the disposable, and the plastic pieces keep the titanium pieces from rattling.

Thanks again for the ideas. Just had one more I might try. Depending on the alloy chosen, stainless can actually attracted to a magnet. If I use our with a neodymium magnet or two it will hold two items (forks, spoons, etc) really secure. Might just add a few to our divider tray to see what happens. Tweaking is fun.

Here's the current tray. The reason I bring this up at all is that in our floorplan it's just a few feet behind the driver's seat

Love magnets. I am using these Neodymium magnets which feature a hole for a screw. Screw them to the inside of cabinet doors, they will hold a variety of things.

USB charging cables
BBQ forks and spatulas and such
Larger knives
Anything metallic with the appropriate dimensions

Someone has already thought of magnets, and they are on Kickstarter. I’ve been jonesing for the complete Full Windsor set, but I haven’t pulled the trigger yet.

Congratulate yourselves if you own a rig that is so quiet you can hear your flatware rattling in the drawer!

Not quite as elegant as some of the solutions presented already, but here is what we have done. The drawer was purchased on Ebay and I modified it with some extra internal dividers and felt. I added the pin to keep the drawer from opening when we're on the the move. The flatware set came with little foam bags that cuts down on the rattling.
