Anyone hear of this Mercedes Metris Jetti...

Saw this ad on Craigslist https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/...463297225.html, googled and googled and could find NOTHING on this, also wondered how they got it in, because am aware of import restrictions of RV due to the "chicken" law and different emission standards. Seller has posted this in various cities, though for sale in UT, has a AZ area code on phone.

Called service dept of Mercedes dealer near Provo, thinking it might have been serviced there and they had never heard of it either and also knew about the "chicken law" and even went to a UK forum for RV's, there was a charge (also did not even have a section for B vans!)-hurrah-for free forums in the U.S. and will post one on Sprinter Forum. Probably won't buy one sigh, have to get a mini-van (yes, yes, I know that's not a Class B but closest thing to one) and a camper conversion kit from either River Leaf, Roadloft, Freeway or Vanpackers, sigh, but wish US makers thought of that idea but my curiosity has piqued so is why asking this question.

This lay out is verbatim copied from old VW Westfalias, I had 2 of them 1977 and 85 models. The V-class (Viano/Vito) in Europe (Metris in USA) is still a very popular base for Camper vans, similar dimensions to old Westfalias.
My current camper van is based on this layout, good proof we like it.

I believe it is based on German design using aluminum frame (Similar to 80/20 Quick Frame or it is Quick Frame) for cabinetry, strong and light weight.

The ad is gone. It was probably a scam. There are many companies in the US doing conversions with a pop top on a Metris. I looked into it before I bought my little Promaster having decided that I wanted to be able to stand up with lifting the top. I saw a nice one in a campground in New Mexico a year or so back.

GTRV is the only company doing the extended length Metris. There are a good half dozen or more that do the standard length. All with the same basic floorplan. The Sportsmobile model was different, but I'm not sure if they still do it.

Besides the standing up thing... I also decided that I didn't want to have to deal with the expensive service costs of any Mercedes product... even if they provide a fancy waiting room with a free latte. lol

I have found it very common. Nearly every Chevy and Promaster dealer in AZ and MN provided coffee, soft drinks, water, and doughnuts (and some much more), and my RV dealer in MN usually has snacks to go with the coffee and soft drinks.

But alas davydd... no latte or fancy pastries.

My local dealership in Wilsonville OR is great, professional and quick. A big contrast to the MB dealer from Midland Texas 3 years ago, they did a great job to blemish Mercedes brand name. So, not all MB dealers are the same.

Fine for those that can afford them... but most of us couldn't even think about buying an Advanced RV rig. lol

Most Class B companies sell Sprinters. Advanced RV doesn't have anything to do with chassis services. That's Mercedes Benz.

I was referring to ability to afford MB's outrageous service fees...

IE... if you can afford to buy from Advanced, MB's overpriced service charges won't bother you.

I pay about $200 for oil change for the Sprinter V6 diesel every 20K miles, overpriced, perhaps not. My own oil change would cost me about $150 in parts and oil. With Mercedes service they also perform a multipoint check and I have service recorded which has value in potential resale. I don’t have FIATphobia nor Mercedesphobia nor Fordphobia, they all have pluses and minuses and I could be as pleased with FIAT as I am with Mercedes (after their fix of the exhaust treatment fiasco).

Have you ever owned a Sprinter? I bought mine and do service work at my local Freightliner dealer. I have never found their service fees to be much different than the service on the rest of my cars. Since Mercedes owns Freightliner, I don't have any experience with the Mercedes dealers so I can't comment on their charges but I have a perfect alternative that seems reasonable to me. I also own a Lexus SUV but I just take that to the local Toyota service center and they seem reasonable too.

Never had that issue and you can see my list of Sprinter ownership and over 240,000 miles. The VS30 chassis 2019+ is practically silent from owners on the DEF issues.

They now make it easier to fill with DEF moving it forward at the front of the engine compartment and eliminating the dip stick. They have a visual real time usage on the dash, and warn you incessantly every time you start the engine and also periodically while driving when you are 2.5 gallons down out of a 4.8 gallon tank. I think many people just ignored DEF until too late. Now you would have to be some kind of stupid not to ignore it.
