So finally the solution to get a good sleep with an AKTIV: tow an Eriba!

.
Reminds me of the Airstream Basecamp. Those were pretty cool, but did not sell well and discontinued in 2008.

If they price them well, they would have a whole market segment virtually to themselves. If they price too high, well.....

Jim hinted the price would be about 1/2 the price of the smallest Airstream currently on the market...

We haven't looked at all Airstreams, but at the show I think the cheapest was about $45K for a small version. At $22K they would be in the same range as Scamp, and about 1/2 of an Alto.

As I remember, he lowballed what the Zion would sell for when they were introducing it.

Nice small trailers Looks like an efficient design that minimizes wasted space.

They're kind of like B alternatives at possibly 1/4 of the price of lower end B's. Wet baths & at least one appears to have twin beds - very B like.

Looks like all single axle units. I don't see A/C, sofa, microwave oven etc, & the water tanks appears to be small & wet bath & small fridge so the target market is likely weekend campers or shorter vacations.

Lots of nice features in these Hymer units though!

Yes noticed the Airstream today. Read the price will be $35k range and that doesn't include solar or Air Conditioning. I could see AC as an option given the use case they are selling but price seems really high to not include solar. Even with solar it's too high vs more complete adventure style options (eg Oliver) you could get nicely fitted for a little more.

Not sure there are any Airstream trailers that are not overpriced compared to the market but people seem to want the Airstream experience enough to pay the price...

I think it has more to do with the Airstream name that the Airstream "experience".

Over on his Facebook group Mike is doing a live video from the Hymer display at Hershey. The Aktiv's at the show have all been sold.

Hope they fixed the cassette toilets. Not one Hymer rep could get any of three cassettes out to show me how they worked. Not a good representation. I liked everything I saw but will hold out for a black tank. I don't think Hymer is going to have a lot of success convincing North American purchasers this is a great idea.

I wonder if that is on purpose. I couldn't get the Hymer rep to find the key to pull the cassette out at Glendale last spring. I'd love to see them demonstrate a full cassette. Few women of retirement age would consider it if they found what the weight was. Isn't it four gallons? My wife struggles with 2.5 gallons of DEF.

Nope, they either didn't come out at all or consistently got stuck and did not close or open appropriately. We tried every Aktiv. Also, any smaller and you will be emptying these thing after just several uses, assuming you can get them out.

In talking to them, they appear to be the only dealer right now that you can get a Hymer from in the U.S.

In the video Mike Wendland did from the Hymer display Jim Hammill mentioned that there would initially be a handful of selling dealers on the West and East coast who would be selected based on high quality customer service. The other comment in the video was that service would be available at any Roadtrek dealer.

I would contact Hymer sales to get info on other dealers that may have been chosen.

The towables are at the Hershey show, MSRP will be in the 20-30k range based on model.

The towables displayed are direct from Europe and not made in North America. They were not even for sale as they currently do not meet either Canadian or US requirements.
